In a tragic incident, model-actress Sonika Chauhan, a well-known face of Bengali film industry, passed away in a car accident on Saturday. As per reports, Sonika was traveling in a car with fellow actor Vikram Chatterjee when the accident took place. DNA reports that Vikram was a part of Bigg Boss Bangla, while Sonika was an event anchor for the pro-Kabaddi League. The report says that Vikram’s car lost control and got on to the footpath. The speeding car then rammed into a shop and turned 180 degrees. The incident took place near Rashbehari’s Lake Mall in Kolkata. Some locals, who were present on the spot of at the time of the incident, said that Sonika was dead at the time of the incident. Both the actors were rushed to a nearby hospital where the Sonika was declared brought dead. As per reports, actor Vikram has been fatally injured. Tollywood celebrities have expressed their shock about the whole incident and condoled Sonika’s death.

The news sent shockwaves to the industry as many Bengali film actors including Dev rushed to the hospital on E M Bypass. PTI, quoting a director said that Vikram was stable but in ICU. Sonika, a popular face in city and Mumbai modelling circuits, had also been hosting a prime time show on a national channel. Vikram, whose last film Khoj (The Lost) had been screened in several film festivals, had also acted in ‘Elar Char Adhyay’ and ‘Ami Ar Amar Girlfriends’.
